For those of you not familiar with the Apple Safari web browser, Apple has made that browser open source, or more specifically, the browser engine.  The browser engine is known as WebKit and it works on both the Macintosh and Windows platforms.  Apple has been working on releasing Safari 3 to Windows.

While it won't take me away from using Internet Explorer as my browser (at least not yet), it's kind of cool to be able to look at the internals of a web browser.  For those like me that like tinkering with cool things, it could be very cool to compile and play with.  Maybe someone will come up with some cool add-on features for Safari, or build a Windows Forms or WPF control to embed Safari in an application.

You can check out the WebKit project here.
